Mr. Phillip Mayo McDermott, 68, of Senath, MO, died Friday, July 9, 2010 at his residence. Born in Blytheville to Curtis Mayo and Dorothy Medford McDermott, he was a lifelong area resident, a retired tugboat operator, and a member of the Pentecostal Church of God in Steele, MO.  

Phillip was an avid fisherman and liked being with his friends. He was an active member of his church where he regularly delivered food through the food bank at the church. Phillip was a devoted husband who would go to the nursing home to assist with the care of his wife. He was also a devoted father, grandfather and friend.  

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Cleo, Donald and Carroll McDermott, and two sisters, Dorothy and Audrey Marie McDermott.  

Phillip is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Lipscomb McDermott, of Senath; his children, Tracie McDermott Simmons and her husband Tim of Walls, MS; Steven McDermott and his wife Christine of Augusta, GA; sister, Daisy Payne of Southaven, MS; grandchildren, Charles Young, Savannah Young, Joshua McDermott, Ian McDermott, and Trey McDermott; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.  

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 12, 2010 at 10:30 am in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home. Condolences may be emailed to cobbfuneralhome@sbcglobal.net.
